The Karachi Port handled 166,457 tonnes of cargo comprising 148,165 tonnes of import cargo and 18,292 tonnes of export cargo including 4,993 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Saturday. The total import cargo of 148,165 tonnes comprised of 45,589 tonnes of containerised cargo; 35 tonne of general cargo; 21,132 tonnes of bulk cargo and 81,409 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 18,292 tonnes comprised of 15,281 tonnes of containerised cargo; 304 tonnes of general cargo and 2,707 tonnes of bulk cargo. Five ships sailed out to sea during the reported period. Seven vessels are currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 60,335 tonnes includes 16,920 tonnes of furnace oil; 14,385 tonnes of palm oil; 13,607 tonnes of coal; 8,589 tonnes of phosphoric acid and 6,834 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 15,820 tonnes includes 821 tonnes of cement and 14,999 tonnes of containerised cargo. A container ship namely CV CMA CGM Puget sailed out to sea during last 24 hours, while another ship namely MV Alexander sailed out to sea on Saturday morning.
A total number of eight vessels CV CMA CGM Puget, MV Alexander, MV Hiba Al-Noor-B, MT Golden Ambrasia, MT Chemroad Lily, MT Al-Buhaira, MV Fair Chem Filly and MV Ocean Eagle are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, coal, palm oil, furnace oil and phosphoric acid respectively during last 24 hours.
As many as three ships namely Bunga Kantan Dua, Chemroute Sun and Estia with two palm oil tankers and one furnace oil tanker are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. A total number of two vessels viz CV MSC Roberta and MT Bunga Kantan Dua carrying containers and palm oil are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Saturday.
