LHC asks petitioner to give arguments on maintainability: constitution of judicial commission to probe Kargil debacle
The Lahore High Court on Wednesday asked a petitioner, who have sought the court instructions for constitution of a judicial commission to probe Kargil debacle, to submit his arguments on maintainability of his petition. The petitioner, Rana Ilamuddin Ghazi Advocate, submitted that despite the passage of 13 years after Kargil war, the nation was unaware of the reasons for the war.
He said the then prime minister Nawaz Sharif had refused to take the responsibility of the war, whereas then army chief General Pervez Musharraf (Retd) had held him responsible for the incident. The lawyer said the whole nation had a right to know the reasons of the debacle. The petitioner, therefore, prayed the court to issue directives for constitution of a judicial commission to probe the incident for bringing the facts before the nation.
