President Asif Ali Zardari is expected to visit Tajikistan in March which will further help strengthen bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, said Zubaydullo N. Zubaydov, Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to Pakistan. In a press conference, he said that the construction of Rogun hydropower dam and implementation of CASA-1000 project is vital for both the countries.
"Feasibility, economic profitability and an environmental safety of Rogun dam project had been examined by a panel of experts, including Pakistani specialists and the project has never been given negative assessment," he added. He further said that about $2 billion has already been spent on the project and now they would move forward to building of hydro power stations.
About road project connecting Pakistan to Central Asian Republics (CARs), he said that the construction on Pakistani side from Chitral was already under way but it required trilateral agreement including Afghanistan to move ahead with the desired objective and a round of meeting is expecting this year. Tajik ambassador also briefed the media about the work done by his embassy in 2011 towards further enhancement of bilateral relationship.
