At least three persons including a woman were killed in separate incidents of violence at various parts of the metropolis, here on Wednesday. According to police and rescue sources, a man was shot dead at Jan Mohammad Village Liaquatabad in the limits of Gulbahar police station. The victim Abdul Rasheed, 35, son of Mohammad Hussain, a resident of Jan Mohammad Village, was targeted while returning home from work on early Wednesday.
Police shifted the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medical treatment where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. SHO Arif Usman said the victim was a criminal and was nominated in several criminal cases including police encounters, murder, attempt to murders and other heinous crimes.
He said victim's wife was also arrested by New Karachi police over the charge of robbery. A newly married woman was stabbed to death by her husband at Landhi in the limits of Landhi police station. The incident took place on early Wednesday, where Mohammad Sabir, a resident of Landhi No 6 assaulted on his wife with dagger after exchange of hot words.
On being informed, the police rushed to the spot and arrested the accused person with murder weapon. Later, the body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico legal formalities.
Later police handed over her body to the heirs and registered an FIR 10/12 against Sabir on the complaint of victim's father Nanhay Mian. Yet another man was shot dead near Shama Shopping Centre in the jurisdiction of Shah Faisal police station. The victim Zafar Farooqui, 39, son of Altaf Farooqui, a resident of Shah Faisal No 2 was targeted near Shama Shopping Centre when he was on the way to home. Resultantly, he received five bullets and died on spot. SHO Sarfaraz Gondal said the victim had money disputes with several persons and might have been killed on this ground. No case was registered till filing of this report.
