Killing of MPA's family members: police still clueless about attackers

The killings of MPA Mir Bakhtiar Khan Domki's wife, his daughter and driver on early Tuesday have put the police department in hot water as they are still clueless as to who carried out the attack. According to details, the tragic incident occurred near Gizri flyover where the MPA's family was targeted when they were returning home after attending a wedding ceremony.
The victims received fatal bullet wounds and died on the spot. Later, the police and rescue teams reached the crime scene and shifted the bodies to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where doctors said the victims had received bullet shots on their heads.

Domki was the former forest minister of Balochistan and the grandson of late Nawab Akbar Bugti and his wife was also the grand-daughter of Nawab Bugti and daughter of Nawab Rehan Bugti. DIG Commandant, District South, Shaukat Ali Shah, SP Tariq Dharejo and other officials during their visit to the site said it was premature to say who was behind the killings and the facts in this regard would only be made public after complete investigation.
They also said the culprits used heavy weapons in the attack as two dozen empty shells of Kalashnikov were recovered from the spot. Meanwhile, DSP Nayyarul Haq calimed that the victims' family members were not co-operating with police and were reluctant to record their statements. The victims were identified as Zomar, 36, her daughter Jana, 17 and their driver Barkat, 41.
Medico Legal Officer (MLO) Dr Farida said the victim Zomar received eight bullets on her face, neck and other parts of the body, while Jana received two bullets each on her neck and face. The controversial statements of the eyewitnesses about the culprits created confusion in the investigation. Some witnesses in their statement said the culprits came in a car while others calimed they were riding a bike.
So far the police have filed to get any information about the girl who remained safe in the attack. According to some eyewitnesses, the culprits dragged the girl out from the car and then sprayed her with bullets. Police sources claimed that the MPA's family was the prime target of the attackers and the driver was killed only on his resistance.
A senior police officer, who did not want to be named, informed this scribe that the incident seemed to be the result of a personal enmity. He was hopeful that the statement of the girl who remained safe in the attack would be helpful in identifying the attackers.
