According to the details, overall performance of FIA Sindh Zone during the year 2011 is commendable under the effective supervision of Moazzam Jah, PSP, Director FIA Sindh Zone.
FIA Sindh Zone total 425 cases were registered, 330 accused persons arrested and as a result of these efforts FIA succeeded to recover Rs 740 millions in NICL, Pakistan State Oil and other organisations fraud cases including recovery of Rs 60 millions by Banking Circles. More than 56 raids were also conducted.
In all 359 cases were challenged in the different Courts of Law out of which 267 were ended in conviction.
As far as performance on the part of Immigration Wing of Sindh Zone is concerned, FIA Immigration Karachi did well. During the year 2011, FIA Immigration Karachi handled total 30, 07, 805 outgoing/incoming passengers and 2, 66,151 crew members. 3,378 passengers were detected and offloaded on incomplete and forged documents.
With good detection by FIA Immigration, PIA was able to save a fine amounting to Rs 8.7 millions. During this year 6,223 passengers were deported through 310 launches from Oman/Muscat and other gulf countries.
Those deportees were dealt at Seaport (Ghas Bander) and were released after proper investigation, however, some of them were sent to FIA Anti Human Trafficking Circles, Karachi for legal action under the relevant law.
Moreover, 3,914 and 2,355 ships were arrived at Seaport and Port Qasim respectively. FIA handled 1, 48,183 crew members arrived / deported by ships at Seaport and Port Qasim.
FIA Sindh Zone also handled 48 outgoing/incoming trains and 27,894 passengers at Khokhrapar Immigration Check post on Pak-India border. 19 passengers were offloaded on suspicious documents.-PR
