The General Secretary of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, on Wednesday held the country's establishment as 'obstacle' to his party's success in reaching the power corridors in the general elections, but showed willingness to contest next general elections under the Presidency of Asif Ali Zardari.
Talking to newsmen at a reception of Sindh JUI, he said his religio-politico party has the strength to sweep the general election to elect to the country's central legislative to form government, but the powerful establishment had to fold its hindrances against his party.
He also accused the establishment of getting elected its blue-eyed political parties in the elections through bogus votes. However, he showed willingness to take part in the elections under President Zardari's government, keeping in view the Constitutional requirements.
He said that the country's nearly all institutions were getting deteriorated due to which holding early polls for the government had now become imperative, otherwise the anti-democratic forces would take over power.
Haideri said his party had opposed the government's move of fresh increase in the petroleum prices and, in this regard, it had submitted an adjournment motion in the Senate.
He claimed that his party's recent public gathering of 'Islam Zindabad' conference in Karachi was a "great success", saying that his party plans to organise such a congregation in Bahawalpur on Feb 26.
He said the country's overall situation continued to deteriorate, as high inflation, rising poverty, unemployment, lawlessness and political and economic uncertainty had gripped the nation in fears of their future, adding that public was in discontentment because of the bad governance.
He said that the government could be forced to hold election during this year if opposition parties agreed on a single-point agenda. He, however, agreed that it was not possible that the head of a political party who was simultaneously president of the country would ensure transparent election, but in line with the Constitutional requirements all parties would have to fight polls under Zardari's presidency.
