Balochistan Parliamentarians on Friday expressed grave concern over the law and order situation in Balochistan in the National Assembly and urged Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani to respond to this situation. The Prime Minister was seated in the House when the Parliamentarians from Balochistan raised this issue, but the Prime Minister left the House without giving any response to the members' concern.
However, Interior Minister Rehman Malik gave a short explanation but it could not satisfy the Blaochistan Parliamentarians. Mir Humayun Aziz Kurd of PPP said that law and order situation in Blaochistan was very fragile and the government should take it seriously. "The PM should have given response in the House on the worsening law and order situation of Balochistan. It will be late if the role of Frontier Corps (FC) and other agencies was not limited in Balochistan," he added.
He said that international players were involved in Balochistan but the members of National Assembly sitting here were not raising any voice for the province. "We should think about it seriously to resolve this issue before it is too late. What the Committee is doing which was constituted for law and order situation in Balochistan," he questioned.
Yaqoob Bizanjo of Balochistan National Party Awami (BNP-A) said that innocent people were being killed without discrimination. He said that Balochies, Sindhies and Punjabis were being killed. "If these parties can unite for 18th, 19th and 20th Amendments then why they cannot unite for resolving Balochistan issue. We should adopt mechanism to bring peace in Balochistan. Today we are sitting here, but soon time will come that we would not be able to sit here," he said.
Bushra Gohar of Awami National Party (ANP) said, "A committee of foreign country (US Committee on Foreign Affairs) is discussing the gravity of situation in Balochistan but our parliamentary Committee is not taking it seriously." Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik while responding the members said that those 150 to 200 young men who had climbed the mountains with weapons should come down and surrender, then the government would be in a position to talk to them.
"I am ready to give In House briefing to the National Assembly regarding the entire policy about Balochistan. I would give briefing to the Senate next week, I request the Speaker to also allow me to brief the National Assembly on the same day on law and order situation in Balochistan."
