University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) and Dairy and Rural Development Foundation (DRDF) arranged training of 24 master trainers under a project of the DRDF aimed at fostering sustainable increase in dairy and livestock productivity through adoption of best farming practices, breed improvement, availability of timely extension services and promotion of livestock businesses.
The three-year long Dairy Project is a joint effort of United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Dairy and Rural Development Foundation (DRDF) to foster sustainable increase in dairy and livestock productivity through adoption of best farming practices, breed improvement, availability of timely extension services, and promotion of livestock businesses.
These graduates were awarded certificates in a ceremony held at the Lahore campus of the UVAS. Dr Salman Shah, Chairman of Dairy and Rural Development Foundation (DRDF) and Professor Dr Talat Naseer Pasha, Vice Chancellor of UVAS distributed certificates to master trainers, said a spokesman of the DRDF here on Friday. The trained master trainers will deliver training to Dairy Project's beneficiaries - dairy farmers, women livestock extension workers and artificial insemination technicians.
While talking to the graduates, Jacob Moser, Project Director of Dairy Project, said: "Due to the vital importance of livestock sector in the rural economy of Pakistan, the Dairy Project's extensive training programs for dairy farmers, women livestock extension workers, and artificial insemination technicians, will play an important role in transforming livelihoods of rural communities."
Other participants at the ceremony included Sajjad Moghal (USAID), Chairman Steering Committee Dairy Project, Yawar Ali, member Steering Committee Dairy Project, Syed Fakhar, General Manager Field Operations Dairy Project, Dr Sobia Naheed and Director Institute of Continuing Education and Extension UVAS, Professor Dr Makhdoom Abdul Jabbar.
