The capital police on Saturday arrested a proclaimed offender who had been on the run for the last eight years after murdering a student of Quaid-e-Azam University. Station House Officer of Secretariat Police Station Inspector Hakim Khan, Sub-Inspector Shahid Mehmud arrested Nauman Akram son of Muhammad Akram resident of Rajan Pur who was wanted in FIR (37/03) registered under section 302/34, a police official said.
He said that Akram along with his accomplices had allegedly shot dead Rehman Azam Cheema at Quaid-e-Azam University over a minor dispute. Another accused in this case Asif Mehmud had been already arrested. Meanwhile, ASI Muneer Ahmed from Aabpara police station arrested Nauman Masih son of Ghafoor Mashih and recovered 18 wine bottles from him. Sub-Inspector Muhammad Shehbaz from Ramna police station nabbed an accused Ajmal for possessing 200 gram hashish while Sub-Inspector Muhammad Ajmal from Tarnol police apprehended Waheed Gul for possessing 30 bore pistols and 450 grams of hashish.
