At least two persons including an activist of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) fell prey to targeted killing spree in separate incidents at various parts of metropolis on Wednesday. A bullet-riddled body of MQM activist was found from Altaf Nagar in the limits of Manghopir police station. Police said the victim was identified as Abdul Hafeez, 36, son of Mohammad Hanif, a resident of Qaddafi Chowk Sector 7, Orangi Town.
On being informed by the local people, the police recovered a body from a gunny bag lying at Altaf Nagar. The police said the victim, who had several torture marks on his body, was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico legal formalities. They said the victim was an active worker of MQM Unit 131 and was employed in Karachi Water Board.
Later police handed over his body to the heirs and registered an FIR 50/12 against unidentified men on the complaint of victim's brother. In another incident, a body of vegetable vendor was found from Awami Chowk Orangi Town in the limits of Mominabad police station. The victim, who was later identified as Babar, 32, son of Tariq, a resident of Iqbal Baloch Mohalla, was found from Awami Chowk Orangi Town. Police said the deceased, who received single bullet on his head, had several torture marks on his body.
They said the victim, who was the vegetable vendor by his profession, went missing on last Tuesday and added that he might have been murdered over personal ground as he had no political and religious affiliation. The body was shifted to ASH for legal formalities and later handed over to his family. Meanwhile, a case 52/12 was registered against unidentified men on the complaint of victim's brother Tahir.
