The Chairman of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Mumtaz Haider Rizvi, has shown full commitment for preparing a people-friendly budget with the directives to tax managers that the Board must make concerted efforts to present a revolutionary budget for the fiscal year 2012-13 to address taxation issues of all segments of the society, particularly business community.
Sources told Business Recorder here on Monday that the basic objectives of the taxation side of federal budget 2012-13 were discussed during the first meeting of the Board-in-Council, headed by FBR Chairman Mumtaz Haider Rizvi. During the meeting, FBR Chairman also expressed resolve that FBR must start concerted efforts to yield a revolutionary budget for the coming fiscal year 2012-13. This budget must adequately address all national strata. In the same breath, he ensured that upon at least meeting the Rs 1952 billion target the sincere hard work, converted into tangible results, of the FBR employees will be rewarded befittingly. Tax officials would have to take measures to achieve the assigned budgetary target for 2012-13.
In this connection, the FBR Chairman gave instructions to FBR Member during the Board-in-Council to prepare next budget (2012-13) in such a manner, which would resolve tax related issues of all segments of the society, sources said. According to sources, the FBR Chairman said unequivocally that he believes in teamwork, and all policy decisions of the Board shall be evolved through mutual consultation. He said that from now on the entire workforce of FBR and its field formations have to put in unprecedented hard and sincere work to surpass the uphill revenue target of Rs 1952 billion set for the current financial year. He urged every revenue collector to transform all his actions into single bottom line of at least meeting his revenue targets. He also expressed his resolve that FBR must start concerted efforts to give a revolutionary budget for the coming fiscal year 2012-13.
At the Board-in-Council meeting, Shahid Hussain Asad FBR Member Inland Revenue (IR) and Ameen-ullah, Member Enforcement and Accounting , on behalf of all officers of FBR, congratulated Rizvi upon his promotion to BS-22 and appointment as Chairman of FBR. Tax managers including FBR Member IR and FBR Member Enforcement assured the new Chairman of fullest co-operation and support of the entire fraternity of Inland Revenue Service, Pakistan Custom Service and FBR (HQ). FBR Members were unanimous that Mumtaz Haider Rizvi as Chairman of the FBR would endeavour to exceed the nation's expectations.
