Zahid Bukhari, the lawyer of Pakistan's former envoy to the US Hussain Haqqani, on Tuesday changed his plans for UK visit at the eleventh hour. Talking to Business Recorder, an associate of Zahid Bukhari, Ali Bukhari, said that Zahid had been issued visa by the British High Commission in Pakistan, but he decided to attend the proceeding of judicial commission in Islamabad High Court (today).
"He will decide to proceed to UK after Wednesday's hearing of Judicial Commission on memogate," he said. Earlier, Zahid said video conferencing was not a proper medium to record the statement of Ijaz. Zahid Bukhari and two of his associates were issued British visas on Tuesday to go to London to cross-examine Ijaz.
Ijaz is likely to appear at the Pakistan High Commission in London at 2pm (Wednesday) today where he will be cross-examined by lawyers. The judicial commission is investigating the memo issue recently decided to record Ijaz's statement via a video link after he refused to travel to Pakistan citing security concerns.
It has been learnt that the National Telecommunication Commission hired services of a private company for making arrangements for the video conferencing at the judicial commission's office in Islamabad High Court complex. Two 42-inch plasma screens and support equipment have been installed in a courtroom of Islamabad High Court.
