Over 200 members of All Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association (APTPMA) of Lahore, Gujranwala and Faisalabad regions have threatened to go on strike from 1st March to protest 'discriminate gas supply' and 14 to 16-hour daily shutdown by the electricity distribution companies of the province.
Addressing a hurriedly called press conference here on Wednesday, APTPMA vice chairman, Sheikh Abdul Rashid, former chairman, Sheikh Mohammad Ayub, Sheikh Mohammad Anwar and other office-bearers said that government has issued orders for forced suspension of gas supply to the textile sector, in three regions, five days a week. In the remaining week, gas pressure is reduced to minimum, which is insufficient to run the machinery, they added.
