Khushhali Bank and IBA Entrepreneurship Society (IBAES) recently announced winners at the finale of ISERVE 2012 - a unique social enterprise competition aimed at providing students a platform to contribute significantly towards the community in the form of sustainable social ideas and creating a new generation of viable social ventures.
The finale was held at IBA Main Campus, where top 6 short listed teams, from a pool of 28 entries, presented their ideas. Zafar Ahmed Siddiqui, Director, Centre for Entrepreneurial Development (CEO), IBA, was the chief guest at the ceremony.
ISERVE 2012 was initiated in mid December last year and comprised of three stages. All participants were provided with extensive workshops and mentoring sessions by experts, having relevant expertise at every stage so that they are able to come up with ideas which are financially sustainable and have a significant social impact. The winner was awarded Rs 500,000 with the first runner-up and second runner-up gaining Rs 300,000 and Rs 200,000 respectively.
The winning idea "Green Paper Bag Manufacturers" which was presented by Maryam Mustafa Memon, Ramla Ahmad, Sadaf Rauf, Sadia Anum and Syed Muzzammil Iftikhar, aims to address and eliminate the problems created by the use of non-biodegradable plastic bags.
Speaking at the occasion, Shahriz Khan, Product Manager, Khushhali Bank said: "Entrepreneurism is a vital part of any economy. Entrepreneurs need to search purposefully for the sources of innovation, and this is what we saw in the pool of entries we received at Khushhali Bank, we recognise that critical thinking is the main ingredient for tomorrow's success and we are proud to be the main sponsor of this dynamic challenge."-PR
