The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday sought report from the federal government and the Ministry of Hajj by March 16 in a petition challenging the allocation of Hajj quota among tours operators against the merit. The petitioners tours operators through their counsel contended that the respondent government allocated Hajj quotas to its favourite operators.
He said that due to such actions of the respondent government a number of Hajj scandals had appeared in past and it could happen again if government did not act in accordance with the law and allocate quotas on merit. He said that the government had also failed to announce Hajj policy and prayed to the court to direct the respondent government to announce Hajj policy 2012 soon.
