Chaos created due to mudslinging by both treasury and opposition over the Mehrangate scandal led to adjournment of Punjab Assembly's session till Monday. During the Friday's proceedings, which lasted for merely over an hour, questions on Industries and Mining departments were answered by Industries Minister Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor and parliamentary secretary Rana Tajamul Hussain.
The legislators strongly criticised the government for not taking notice of the poor performance of these departments. They also criticised the departments for giving wrong answers to members' queries. The chair asked the government to take strict action against those who had sent wrong answers to the assembly. Some lawmakers strongly protested on the issue of scheduled rates of contractors. They urged the government to make the process clean in the Province.
During the question hour Minister for Industries informed the house that work was being carried in salt and coalmines in districts of Jhelum, Chakwal, Khushab and Mianwali. Opposition Leader Raja Riaz on a point of order criticised Yunus Habib for distributing money among political against PPP in 1990. He also flayed Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif for getting money from ISI in 1990's elections.
This led to pandemonium in the house as strong comments were passed against each other by opposition and treasury members and the mike of opposition leader was turned off by the Chair. In retaliation the PML-N members accused PPP-led federal government of looting pilgrims and demanded recovery of the 'looted money' deposited in Swiss banks.
