In a significant development, a petition was moved in the Supreme Court of Pakistan, urging the apex court to place the name of out-going Inter-Services Intelligence agency (ISI) chief, Lieutenant General Ahmed Shuja Pasha, on the Exit Control List (ECL). Tariq Asad counsel for the relatives of missing persons, filed the petition on Tuesday.
In the petition, Asad argued that the missing persons case was still pending before the court. According to him, Pasha is due to retire on March 18 and there are chances that he might leave the country. He alleged that around 3,000 people were still in the ISI custody in it, centers set up on the orders of Pasha and it would be better if he was bound by the court to stay in Pakistan till the case was disposed of. "He may be of great assistance in resolving all the cases of missing persons too."
