The officials of Revenue Department of Mastuj Tehsil in Booni allegedly subjected two prominent educationists of the area to torture and maltreatment and later got them booked on Monday.
Professor Masood Ahmed of Government Degree College Chitral and his brother, Sardar Ahmed, Principal, Chitral Education College, Chitral were visiting the office of Deputy District Officer Revenue (DDOR), Wasil Khan and Tehsildar Nimatullah for re-measurement of their land acquired for expansion of Torkhown Road.
Despite repeated instructions to the officials concerned by the District Officer Revenue for re-measurement of the land, the former repeatedly refused to re-measure the land and were reportedly demanding bribe. On Monday, the two educationists again visited the office for re-measurement and subsequently payment against the acquisition of the land. The concerned officials refused to entertain their demand and abused them. Later they officials subjected them to torture and maltreatment.
After subjecting them to maltreatment and torture, the officials booked them booked on charges of interfering in officials duty and others. On the other hand, police refused to lodge an FIR against the officials on the application of the victims. Notables, educationists and other residents of the area have strongly condemned the maltreatment and torture of the educationalists by what they said corrupt officials of the Revenue Department and demanded of the government to take action against the officials.
They alleged that widespread corruption had been committed in the acquisition of land for expansion of Torkhow Road and demanded of the government to probe the corruption and embezzlement allegations and take action against the officials. When contacted, District Co-ordination Officer (DCO) Rehmatullah Wazir said he was not aware of the incident. However, he promised that he would probe into the matter and would take action against the responsible.
