In a petition, filed by 52 assistant sub-inspectors pleading for their promotions, Sindh High Court Hyderabad Circuit Bench issued notices to Secretary Sindh Home Department for submission of reply on May 5. During the hearing on Wednesday, the petitioners' counsel, advocate, Saulat Rizvi, prayed that his clients were appointed in 1995 but had not received any promotion since then.
Rizvi informed the court that on the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Inspector General of Sindh Police Mustaq Shah reverted thousands of policemen who were promoted without due process. "The positions of sub-inspectors in many regions of the police are vacant, which should be filled by these ASIs," he prayed. The bench comprised Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Muhammad Tasnim.
