Following the havoc wreaked by the killing of MQM activists and his elder brother in PIB colony on Tuesday, the Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) on Wednesday detained half a dozen suspects during raids at various parts of the metropolis.
According to police sources, the first raid was conducted by paramilitary rangers at the residential complex located in Abul Hasan Ishphani road that led to have arrested three suspects. They said that three of two suspects were identified as Raheel and Tariq Khan and added that these detained persons, who had criminal records, were shifted to unknown place for interrogation.
Similarly, the team of Crime Investigation Department (CID) headed by SSP Chaudry Aslam raided at several parts of Lyari to nab the members of banned Peoples' Amn Committee (PAC) including Zafar Baloch, Ahmad Ali, Habib Jan and others. SSP Aslam while talking to this scribe informed that the CID team raided several parts of Lyari including the residences of Uzair Jan Baloch, Taj Muhammad alias Taju and Mullah Nisar and detained two persons with weapons.
He said the CID had demolished all gambling dens in the area and raids are being conducted to detain the suspects nominated in the PIB dual-murder case. Meanwhile, sources said one of the detained persons was identified as Khadim, who was low-profile criminal and added that the CID team has however failed to nab any nominated person. They said the case of PIB dual-murder (84/12) was registered against Ali Ahmad Baloch and two other suspects on the complaint of Masoor's sister-in-law Uzma.
They said the city after facing intense wave of violence on Tuesday came to normalcy as all markets and other commercial centres started businesses on Wednesday. However, several parts of the city including Shah Faisal colony, Ilyas and Anghora goths on Wednesday remained tensed where political rival groups assaulted each other with lethal weapons and forced the inhabitants to remain indoors. When contacted, DIG South Commander Shaukat denied to have detained the nominated accused person Ali Ahmad, saying that although the authorities have given a go-ahead signal to nab the accused persons, the LEAs are presently striving to get success in this regard.
