Pakistan most viable route

Pakistan is the most viable route both on land and air for United States to supply military equipment and food items to Nato/ISAF forces stationed in Afghanistan. Nato containers use the N-5 National Highway from Karachi to Torkham and N-25 from Karachi to Chaman.
According to diplomatic sources the US is anxious to get the supplies moving again because it is much more expensive to transport goods through the alternate route that runs through Central Asia. The supply line via Pakistan would also be important for the US and Nato forces when they pull out equipment from Afghanistan following US troops drawdown by the end of 2014. According to reports, the US is considering relying on India as a last option but according to security and defence analysts this is not viable as India does not have contiguous borders with Afghanistan.
