The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is yet to complete the probe into alleged irregularities in 34 different projects of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), which the agency had started over six months ago. "Out of 34 projects the FIA has so far only completed the enquiry of Zero Point Interchange (ZPI) project and the FIA informed CDA that they have found no irregularity in the project.
The CDA has also provided record of its other 33 projects to the FIA investigators but they have not yet completed the probe due to political pressure", an official source told Business Recorder. He said that some of the development projects being probed by FIA were launched during the present government. "The contractors of different projects, being investigated by FIA to ascertain irregularities, are well connected which is one of the main reasons for delay in investigation", he said.
He said the 34 projects which FIA is investigating include the agro-farms allotment case, Kuri village land scam, award of tender of Kashmir Highway project, leasing of Monal Restaurant at Pir Sohawa, Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) project in I-9, the sale of plots for construction of a hotel and apartment complexes near Jinnah Convention Centre and Centaurus at F-8, renovation of CDA existing building, development of F-9 park, renovation of parliament lodges, appointment in CDA and lack view park project.
The official said that the FIA has also arrested eight officials of CDA for their alleged involvement in the land deal under which 4,000 plots were allotted to the locals of Kuri village as compensation against their land acquired by the authority for a housing project.
