At least four persons including two political workers killed in separate incidents at various parts of the metropolis here on Tuesday. According to police and rescue sources, an activist of MQM-H was shot dead near Model Park Malir Tank in the limits of Saudabad police station. The victim Furqan, 30, son of Omar Khan, a resident of Liaquat market near Tayyba, was targeted by two unknown armed riders when he was on the way to his in-laws house.
Resultantly, he received single bullet on his head and died on the spot. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medical treatment. SHO Zulfiqar Bajwa said the victim used to run a toy-shop at Liaquat Market and added that they had no information about his affiliation.
However, MQM-H leader Shamshad Khan Ghauri while claiming his affiliation with his party condemned the said incident. He also demanded the government to take responsible persons to task. Later police handed over his body to the heirs. A bullet-riddled body of man was found near Navy building in the limits of Landhi police station.
The victim, who was later identified as Qamar Qureshi alias Imran, 35 son of Ahmed Qureshi, a resident of Korangi No 4, was found from sector 44-C Landhi near Navy building. Police said the victim, who was hit by four bullets on his upper torso, went missing since Monday night. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico legal formalities. The victim was the father of four and painter by his profession.
Police said the motive behind the murder was yet to be ascertained and suspected that personal enmity was behind the incident. No case was registered till filing of this report. A senior member of Pakhtoon Jarga was shot dead in Mehboob Manzil in the jurisdiction of Sharah Noor Jahan police station.
The incident took place at Block T, North Nazimabad where 75-year-old Haji Deen Mohammad Babar son of Pir Mohammad was targeted by unidentified men when he was sitting outside his residence. He received four bullets on his chest and head and succumbed to his injuries during treatment at JPMC.
Following the said killing, tension prevailed in Pukhtoon dominant areas including Gulistan Jauhar, Kati Pahari, Banaras, North Nazimabad, Site and others where commercial and social activities were suspended. The Spokesman of ANP Abdul Malik said the victim was the senior member of Pakhtoon Lower Jarga, district central and father of four. No case was registered till filing of this report.
Later, heavy contingent of police and rangers rushed to the spot to avert any untoward incident. A 27-year-old Sajjad Baloch, 27, son of Noor Mohammad was gunned down at Ilyas Goth in the precinct of Super Market police station. Police said the victim, who was the resident of Ilyas Goth, was killed when he was standing with his friend.
The body was shifted to ASH for medico legal formalities where his family members took away the body without completing legal formalities. Later, scores of area people staged protest against his killing. The protesters, who blocked Sharah Pakistan for half an hour, chanted slogan against law enforcement agencies. No case was registered till filing of this report.
