Pakistani and Polish Naval Chiefs on Thursday discussed naval co-operation and further strengthen already existing relations. Vice Admiral Tomasz Mathea, Commander-in-Chief of Polish Navy who is on official visit to Pakistan visited Naval Headquarters and met Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Mohammad Asif Sandila.
During the meeting, the two Admirals discussed existing naval collaboration between the two countries and identified various avenues to further strengthen it. Besides professional issues, regional situation also came under discussion. Earlier, upon his arrival at Naval Headquarters, Commander-in-Chief of Polish Navy was received by Chief of the Naval Staff, and presented Guard of Honour by a smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Navy.
He was then introduced to Principal Staff Officers at Naval Headquarters and later given a detailed briefing on PN Role in regional maritime security situation. The Admiral joined Polish Navy in 1974. Besides commanding the Polish Navy, he has had the privilege to command Polish Submarine Force, Chief of Maritime Training Command of Polish Navy, Commander of ninth Coast Defence Flotilla, Polish Army General Staff as Chief of General Department of Strategic Planning, head of the Polish Navy Logistics.
He is a graduate of National Defence University, Washington and attended various professional courses at former Soviet Union Naval Academy, the Royal British Staff Academy and Polish Academy of National Defence. The Admiral is awarded, inter alia, the Gold Cross of Merit and the Gold Medal of Merit for National Defence.
