Suspicious package prompts New York office evacuation

An office tower near New York's World Trade Center was evacuated Thursday after discovery of what police said was a suspicious package. "It's a suspicious package. It's under investigation," a spokeswoman for the New York Police Department said.
The tower was 2 World Financial Center, which is close to the new World Trade Center, rebuilt following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on New York. No further details were immediately available. Similar scares are frequent in New York, which has been under especially tight security since 2001.
