If President Asif Ali Zardari returned "trillions of dollars, which he had looted and deposited in Swiss banks", it would be a great national service, Provincial Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah Khan said on Sunday. He was commenting on President Zardari's statement regarding the formation of a Seraiki bank.
He said that 'bandit bankers' like Hamesh Khan and Younus Habib were "very happy" over the announcement, adding that the president should not forget that he had robbed poor Pakistanis of their wealth.
He said that people, who were now talking about people's welfare, should remember that the credit for plunging the country into darkness of load-shedding, price hikes and unemployment "goes to the president and his 40 thieves". He said that corruption had not left a single institution unscathed and all institutions, including railways, steel mills and PIA, had been ruined.
Accusing government functionaries of ruthlessly looting national wealth, Rana Sanaullah said that only a "patriotic and kind-hearted leader like Mian Nawaz Sharif can bring the country out of quagmire of problems".
Terming President Zardari the "prince of the Surrey Palace", he said that the president was now talking about welfare of the people, but he had gone abroad when the people of Sindh were facing the effects of floods.
He said that the people of Sindh still remembered PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif who visited the flood-hit areas several times and practically helped them. He said that the Punjab government extended full co-operation to Sindhi brethren despite facing resource constraints.
