Quick response and rescue centre would be set up at 10 locations in the city where ambulances, fire tenders with police and ranger's mobiles would be stationed for immediate dispatch in any emergency or casualty.
Municipal Commissioner Karachi Matanat Ali Khan during a visit to proposed emergency relief centres in different areas of city said those emergency centres were being set up on the directive of Governor of Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad so that immediate medical and other help could be provided to citizens in case of any casualty.
Director General Technical Services Altaf G Memon, Senior Director Health Services Dr Shoukat Zaman, Senior Director Transport & Communication Ateeq Baig, Director Charged Parking Raza Abbas, Director Anti-Encroachments Abdul Malik and other officers accompanied Municipal Commissioner on this visit during which he went to seven out of 10 locations selected for setting up of quick response and rescue centre.
He on this occasion directed the officers to complete this project as soon as possible and deploy the police, rangers and city wardens with the ambulances on those locations. He said with the rapid increase in the city population emergency relief centres were also required and that was why KMC decided to use the empty space beneath the flyovers and bridges in the city for establishment of such centres.
