The chairman said that in accordance with the global importance of IP rights, the present government is giving due consideration to strengthen IP management systems in the country by extending legal protection to creators and IP right owners. He also said that IP Laws are being amended by proposing suitable amendments after consultation of all stakeholders so that the elements found involved in violation of IP rights, should be put to the task under the law.
Afridi replying to a question said that private sector has been given due representation in constitution of new policy board of IPO. Similarly, in order to protect the rights and provision of royalties to the performers including singers, writers, artists and musicians, the Collective Management Organisations (CMOs) would be encouraged.
