Commissioner Hyderabad Division Ahmed Bux Narejo has directed all deputy commissioners and heads of other allied departments of the division to prepare and submit pre and post-contingency plan of monsoon rains/floods so that necessary precautionary action could be taken and the same should be forwarded to the concerned quarters.
All necessary arrangements should be completed before start of monsoon season, the Commissioner directed while presiding over a review meeting of precautionary measures of monsoon season here at Shahbaz Hall, Shahbaz Building, a statement said Saturday.

He directed the deputy commissioners and the officers of utility departments to set up supervisory committees for relief and rescue work besides the establishment of emergency control rooms on district and taluka level.
He said that all deputy commissioners of the division should have a pre-contingency plan including repair and maintenance of dewatering pumps, ensure their availability at talukas and Union Councils level, desilting of sewerage lines and big nullahs, proper functioning of sewerage system, logistic arrangements and other related issues so that the same may be incorporated in contingency plan and implemented accordingly.
The establishment of relief camps, arrangements for supply of food and drinking water in relief camps as well as in marooned areas, establishment of medical camps, availability of life saving drugs and anti venom serum and other social issues were also discussed in detail in the meeting. The Commissioner directed the officers of Irrigation Department to maintain close co-ordination with the district administration and keep their machinery functional besides strengthening of all embankments of Indus River and venerable points as well as its allied channels to sustain the pressure of water.
While taking serious notice of absence of some officers from the meeting, he directed that they must seek prior permission before leaving their districts otherwise strict action would be taken against them adding that they should launch a fumigation drive in their districts to eradicate any symptoms of Malaria and Dengue virus there.
All the participants of the meeting briefed the Commissioner about the arrangements made in their respective areas in advance. The Commissioner asked the officers of HESCO to exempt the pumping stations from load shedding particularly during the rainy season and start a drive for cleaning of high transmission lines to avoid any causalities.
