The Karachi Port handled 95,453 tonnes of cargo comprising 41,605 tonnes of import cargo and 53,848 tonnes of export cargo including 4,461 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 41,605 tonnes comprised of 23,901 tonnes of containerised cargo; 17,532 tonnes of bulk cargo: 12,800 tonnes of coal; 1,560 tonnes of rock phosphate; 3,172 tonnes of DAP and 172 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 53,848 tonnes comprised of 31,888 tonnes of containerised cargo; 180 tonnes of general cargo; 16,580 tonnes of bulk cargo: 5,880 tonnes of cement; 19,700 tonnes of talcum powder and 5,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. A total number of 4,461 containers include 2,101 import and 2,360 export containers were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The brake up of imported containers shows 778 of 20's and 351 of 40's of loaded while 611 of 20's and 5 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,033 of 20's and 259 of 40's loaded containers while and 185 of 20's 312 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
Six ships namely Hyundai Confidence, MOL Wind, Tampa Bay, Salis, Bhairavi and STX Queen carrying four container ships, one oil tanker and one bulk cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. Two vessels viz Salis and Chemway Arrow with one container ship and one oil tanker respectively are currently at the berths. An oil tanker namely Chemway Arrow sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while another ship namely UASC Shuwaikh with one container ship is expected to sail on Wednesday.
Nine vessels viz Ital Moderna, APL Brisbane, Glen Canyon Bridge, Al Deerah, Alam Bakti, Majestic, Archagelos, Paris Trader and Winterset with three container ships, one HSD oil tanker, one jet oil tanker, one coal carrier, one vehicles carrier, one cement carrier and one steel coils ship respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 57,211 tonnes, comprising 56,126 tonnes of import cargo and 1,085 tonnes of export cargo inclusive nil loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during last 24 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 56,126 tonnes includes 52,472 tonnes of diesel oil; 1,128 tonnes of bitumen and 2,526 tonnes of fertiliser. The total export cargo includes 1,085 tonnes of wheat.
Two ships namely MV Indian Fortune and MT Omega Queen with wheat and diesel oil sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while two more ships namely MV Sidra Qatar and MV Arrilah-1 carrying bitumen and chemicals are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of four vessels namely MV Indian Fortune, MV Arrilah-1, MV Sidra Qatar and MT Omega Queen are currently occupying berths to load/offload wheat, fertiliser, bitumen and diesel oil respectively during last 24 hours.
As many as four ships Maersk Kalamata, MT Lahore, STX Knight and Luilang Wisdom with containers, furnace oil, edible oil and wheat respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. A total number of three vessels viz Maersk Kalamata, STX Knight and Luilang Wisdom with containers, edible oil and wheat respectively are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal and Grain & Fertiliser Terminal (FAP) respectively on Tuesday.
