Rejecting the impression being created about the deadline for moving an appeal against the contempt verdict, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Fawad Chaudhry advocate on Saturday said after the announcement of detailed judgement by the Supreme Court, the respondent had the opportunity to avail the legal remedy till June 15.
Fawad Chaudhry, while talking to APP, said, "Moreover, there is no urgency in filing an appeal, particularly in the presence of the ruling of the Speaker of National Assembly, in which she did not find any reason for the disqualification of the Prime Minister. The rulings of the Speaker of National Assembly cannot be challenged at any forum under Article 69 of the Constitution," he opined.
He further said that under the law of limitations, the period for filing an appeal would be extended as the apex Court would be observing its summer vacations from June 15. Pakistan Bar Council Vice President Akhtar Hussain while sharing his views maintained that under the law of limitation, if the Prime Minister did not move the appeal during summer vacations, he would have the extended period to do it on the first working day after the vacations.
