Pakistan Peoples Party Punjab, President, and State Minister Imtiaz Safdar Warraich said on Saturday the decision of the National Assembly speaker proved the party stance was correct. Talking to the media at PPP Punjab office, he said that the decision of not writing a letter to the Swiss government by the prime minister against the president was also right.
He said, "If the PML-N believes in the Turkish government, it should also believe that the opposition has the right to criticise not to derail the government." He said people had rejected the PML-N as it failed to win any election after controversial elections of 1997. "The PML-N has realised that it will not be able to win any election in future," he added.
He said the PML-N leadership was hatching conspiracies and trying to come to power through backdoors. "It was for the first time that a democratic government had forced a dictator to step down," he added. He said people's participation in PPP rallies had proved that they were with the party and supported its stance, not that of the PML-N.
He asked the PML-N why it had not launched a long march when its government was toppled. Earlier, sweets were distributed among party workers for not sending the reference against the prime minister to the election commission. PPP Punjab General Secretary Azizur Rehman Chan and People's Youth Organisation (PYO) Punjab President, Adviser to Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Ayub and other office-bearers and PPP workers were also present.
