Samsung has come out with a new combo-device which unites a HD hard disk recorder, a Blu-ray player and a tuner. The 8 (BD-E8) series recorder is equipped with WiFi and LAN connections and supports HDMI 1.4 as well as 3D.
Network attached storage (NAS) can also be used and the DLNA standard is supported. For tablets and smartphones, Samsung offers apps which turn the mobile devices into second displays or with which recordings can be programmed.
The recorder is equipped with either two DVB-S tuners or a DVB-T and DVB-C tuners and is available with 320, 500 or 1,000 MB. The prices range from 450 to 600 euros.
