The Karachi Port handled 59,546 tonnes of cargo comprising 48,428 tonnes of import cargo and 11,118 tonnes of export cargo including 2,264 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 48,428 tonnes comprised of 1,215 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,960 tonnes of general cargo; 14,200 tonnes of coal and 31,053 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 11,118 tonnes comprised of 414 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,856 tonnes of cement and 4,848 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. A total number of 2,264 containers include 289 import and 1,975 export containers were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The brake up of imported containers shows 234 of 20's and 23 of 40's of loaded while 9 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 757 of 20's and 405 of 40's loaded containers while and 66 of 20's 171 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
Ten ships namely Hyundai Bangkok, Opal-II, CSL Ride, Tampa Bay, Bruno Schulte, Marcampania, Lindavia, Zulal, Abdullatif-S and Maersk Marmata with seven container ships, two cement carriers and one oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Six vessels viz MT Karachi, Hellen, Omega Queen, Chem Rigel, UBC Cyprus and Rochester Castle with four oil tankers, one bulk cargo ship and one general cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths. Two ships namely Rochester Castle and St, Jerneborg with two general cargo ships sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while four ships namely UBC Cyprus, Omega Queen, De Shan and Zhong Ren-1500 with one bulk cargo ship, one oil tanker and two general cargo ships respectively are expected to sail on Thursday.
Three vessels viz Berthea, Cap Verde and Anne with one naphtha ship, one container ship and one coal carrier respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while four vessels viz Wan Hai-603, Yaran, Bow Cedar and King Fortune with two container ships, one gas ship and one general cargo ship respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 76,812 tonnes, comprising 59,844 tonnes of import cargo and 16,968 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 2,068 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during last 24 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 59,844 tonnes includes 27,884 tonnes of furnace oil; 5,500 tonnes of edible oil and 16,460 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo includes 16,968 tonnes of containerised cargo. Three ships namely CMA CGM Mozart, ER Perth and Nedlloyd Drake with containers sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning. A total number of five vessels namely CV CMA CGM Mozart, CV ER Perth, CV Nedlloyd Drake, Bow Pride and Al Mukhtara are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, furnace oil and edible oil respectively during last 24 hours.
As many as four ships CMA CGM Chopan, Asir, Bow Fraternity and SC Shanghai with containers and edible oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. A total number of two vessels viz CV CMA CGM Chopan and CV Asir with containers are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
