Hamdard Public School (HPS) and the Consulate General of Japan at Karachi (Japan Cultural Centre) jointly held an informative programme about the culture of Japan in Madinat-al-Hikmah. This programme took place at the auditorium of the Bait-al-Hikmah.
The year 2012 is being celebrated as the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Japan. This programme was held as part of the 60th anniversary celebrations. The schoolchildren were given a complete introduction to Japan in which they were briefly told about the culture, fine arts, sports and customs of Japan.
Around 250 students of Hamdard Public School were in particular provided with information about the different aspects of the Japanese educational system and lifestyle. A film was also shown on the same topic in which the activities of Japanese students in schools were portrayed. The students of Hamdard Public School also asked questions about Japanese culture and the Japanese educational system.
On this occasion, the Senior Consul (DCM) of the Consulate General of Japan, Masamichi Abe taught the children some common Japanese words and phrases and the students showed a keen interest in this activity. This year is the 60th year of the friendship between Pakistan and Japan and such cultural programmes will further strengthen this friendship.-PR
