There was no let up in the ongoing spate of targeted killings on Saturday, as five more persons, including a former activists of the Pakistan Peoples Party, were killed in various parts of the Sindh metropolis here on Saturday. According to police and rescue sources, armed assailant riding motorcycles sprayed two former PPP workers with bullets in Block-15 of Gulistan-e-Jauhar in the jurisdiction of Sharah-e-Faisal police station.
The victims were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where both victims succumbed to their injuries. Later their bodies were handed over to respective families. The deceased were identified as Ghulam Shabbir, 30, and Aftab Magsi, 35. DSP Shakeel Awan said the victims were friends and former PPP activists.
He said the victims lived in Afnan Arcade and at the time of the incident, they were sitting outside their apartments. The attackers, he said, used 9mm pistols for the murders. He said Ghulam Shabbir was originally from Larkana. The body of a youth was found from Ahmed Shah Bukhari Road in the limits of the Kalri police station. The deceased was identified as Saqib, son of Abdul Rasheed. Police said that the victim, a butcher by profession who used to run a shop in Nazimabad, had gone missing since Friday night from the Garden West area near his home. He was said to be a supporter of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).
