Angry mobs in different parts of the country kept on protesting on Monday against prolonged and unannounced power outages, taking many of them to the streets, ransacking offices and torching vehicles. Meanwhile, heat-related incidents have also kept on causing deaths in the country like previous few days. All major cities of the country presented a protest like picture where traders are observing strikes against unscheduled electricity load shedding.
Resultantly, leading markets, shopping malls and grocery shops remained closed. Many top associations of industry and trade have condemned the government, saying that the power crisis is getting worsening day by day and inflicting colossal financial losses to traders and industrialists. Protests and rallies have become hallmark of the day. The infuriated protestors are observing hunger strikes besides taking out big public procession.
Similarly, all opposition parties are cursing the government in chorus, saying the days of PPP-led coalition government are numbered and time has come to get rid of the rulers. The government has recently appointed Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar as Minister for Water and Power who has suspended the MD NTDC Rasool Khan Mehsud on Monday for his ill-planning in dealing with power crisis. Government has pinned high hopes on Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar so far as handling of power crisis is concerned.
