Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) parliamentarians Monday staged sit-in protest in front of presidency, warning the government of the 'Arab Spring'-like agitation in the federal capital if it continues to defy the higher judiciary orders and fails to overcome the energy crisis.
The protesting PML-N members National Assembly and Senate who were joined by scores of party workers in front of the Parliament House were, earlier, stopped at Constitutional Avenue by contingents of Islamabad Capital Territory Police to prevent them from reaching in front of Presidency.
However, the protesters chanting slogans against the government defied the security arrangements after brief scuffle with the Capital police and gathered in front of Presidency with party leaders led by leader of opposition in National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, PML-N chairman Raja Zafar-ul-Haq.
Addressing the participants of the sit-in, Nisar warned the rulers Egypt & Libya-like agitations to be staged in the federal capital and the moment when reached will even not let them to escape the country. "I would like to tell the two "unlawful" and convicted rulers...President Zardari and Prime Minister Gilani to mend their ways and obey the judiciary orders, eradicate corruption and overcome energy crisis. Otherwise be ready for the people wrath which might lead to the Arab-like uprising and you will not be able to even flee the country and the people will make you an example for future", he warned.
Justifying his party's protest, Nisar said that for the last four years they continued to use parliamentary means to force the government to realise its responsibilities to resolve the masses' problems but, he regretted it was useless. He maintained that the rulers have proved that "they are the worst rulers of the history and have no further justification to remain in power".
Nisar also lashed out at the political pundits criticising PML-N for the prolonged protest, adding that they need not to advise the opposition rather suggested that they should advise the rulers to step down and prepare grounds for fresh election. He said that the Monday sit-in was a message to the "fake" rulers that they would no more remain in the power when the party's leadership Nawaz Sharif gives a call of mass agitation against them in the federal capital.
Raja Zafar-ul-Haq on the occasion blasted the government for its inability to get rid of the power outages and provide relief to the people. He asked the rulers to come out of their palaces and see the plight of the people who are on the streets for their rights. He also urged the foreign diplomats in Islamabad to convey to their respective countries that people of Pakistan have lost their confidence in the present PPP led government.
