DCO Nasim Sadiq had directed the concerned departments to complete all necessary arrangements required to tackle any emergency situation during monsoon season. Presiding over a meeting to review the monsoon plan of various departments, he said that it is heavy duty of WASA to drain out water from the low lying areas of the city in case of torrential rains during monsoon season and to come up with the expectation of the people in regards to drain out the rain water and all roads should be cleared immediately after the culmination of rain.
He directed that the confiscation of storm water from drains should effectively be completed without delay. The DCO asked the WASA officers that the crises management centers should also be equipped with the trained staff along with necessary machinery to cope with any emergency during rains.
He advised the officers to compile the list of low lying areas, vulnerable and sore points after comprehensive survey keeping in view the previous experience in this regard and necessary arrangements should be finalized to meet the challenges of monsoon season.
During meeting, the matters related to the spray of insecticide, medical arrangements in Government hospitals, repair of canal banks and storm drains., precautionary measures in case of outbreak of any epidemic during rainy season, safety of electric poles and sui gas installations and preparedness of Rescue 1122 regarding monsoon were also reviewed.
MD WASA Syed Zahid Aziz and EDO MS Anwar Saeed gave briefing regarding the monsoon plan relating to their departments. Among others EDO Health Dr Rauf, EDO CD Asif Tarar, SAO Khalid Manzoor, Civil Defense Officer Chaudhry Riaz, ACs, TMOs and MS DHQ Hospital Dr Arif attended the meeting.
