World Blood Donors Day: 'precious lives can be saved by donating blood voluntarily'
Social mobilizer for dengue awareness programme Begum Shaista Pervaiz Malik and Secretary Social Welfare Punjab, Sardar Akram Javed have said that precious lives can be saved by donating blood voluntarily. They were addressing participants of awareness walk started from Mental Hospital and culminated at Jillani Park (Race Course Park) held under the aegis of Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal Department Punjab on the eve of World Blood Donors Day here on Thursday.
Welfare organisations, officers of Social Welfare Department and people belonging to various walks of life attended the walk. Begum Shaista Pervaiz Malik and Sardar Akram Javed said that there is a need of donating blood for saving the life of a person in every two second in the world and a donation of blood by a person can save lives of three persons. They stressed upon the people to donate maximum blood voluntarily. They said that donation of blood is a mission and it does not lessen the blood but increases it and the person donating blood can remain safe from various diseases.
They said that donation of blood is a continuous source of earning blessings of Almighty Allah and service to ailing humanity. Addressing the walk, District Social Welfare Officer Sh. Tanvir Ahmed said that Social Welfare Department is organising blood donor camps with the co-operation of various welfare organisations where volunteers are registered and computerised record of blood groups is maintained so that blood could be donated immediately to the needy persons.
