Chairman Senate Syed Nayyar Hussain Bokhari on Thursday said that Pakistan and Oman enjoy traditional commonalities of religion, culture and values along with shared views on matters of mutual significance. He expressed these views in a meeting with outgoing Ambassador of Oman, Muhammad Bin Saeed Bin Muhammad Al Lawati at Parliament House.
While expressing his sentiments about his seven-year stay in Pakistan as Oman ambassador he said that he considered Pakistan as his second home and if he had choice he would have preferred to live in Pakistan throughout his diplomatic career. Reciprocating his sentiments, Syed Nayyar Bokhari said Pakistan and Oman are brotherly countries and we must look forward to enhancing bilateral ties in all fields. The ambassador said that trade between the two countries has increased up to $400 million and many joint ventures between Pakistan and Omani companies are going on.
"We are also supporting projects worth $45 million in Balochistan to help our Balochi brethren to earn their livelihood. Pakistani diaspora is also on rise from 18,000 to 200,000 in Oman which is contributing to build Oman's economy and strengthen bilateral ties. Nayyar Bokhari lauded the efforts of Oman envoy for building further Pakistan-Oman relations and hoped that his successor Riab Muhammad Yousuf will also continue to so.
