Motorway Police is making vigorous efforts to reduce accidents rate to lowest level by maintaining better discipline on roads causing many precious lives and over Rs100 million monitory losses annually. This was stated by Inspector General, National Highways & Motorway Police (NH&MP) Zafar Abbas Lak during a presentation on road safety.
Additional Inspector General (Operation & Development) Farooq-e-Azam gave a detailed presentation on road safety. "NH&MP always priorities road safety awareness among masses," said IG, adding that road safety wing of NH&MP is being modernised on scientific lines to analyse the causes of accidents and its rectification measures. He appreciated the performance of Mobile Education Units in imparting road safety lectures and educating the professional drivers, school/college children and members of other parts of the community. Zafar Abbas Lak further said that every year many precious lives suffers in road accidents and more than 100 million monitory loss happened in these road traffic accidents. However, Motorway Police is fighting and making vigorous efforts to reduce accident rate to lowest level by maintaining better discipline on roads through briefing, education and constructive enforcement.
He further said that special attention has been given to children. As children have been considered as the best mode of education on any subject; therefore, the NH&MP also focused the children for the awareness of road safety and traffic discipline.
He ordered that special refresher courses be designed for the professional drivers so that their status in society could be enhanced and they could realise their responsibilities. Educated people would be encouraged to become professional drivers so that good traffic discipline on roads should be ensured.
