Infuriated by hours' long and unannounced power outages, tens of hundreds of citizens staged violent protest demonstrations against load-shedding in various parts of the Southern Punjab. Two people were killed and 23 injured when guards of two PPP leaders MNA Begum Beelam Hasnain and MNA Riaz Fatina opened fires at the protestors.
Sub Divisional Police Officer Kamalia Akbar Khan Niazi said, "I am not confirmed about the number of casualties in firing on the protestors, however it is in my knowledge that one protestor was killed and other eight injured when the guards of Riaz Fatiana, MNA opened fires on the violent mob of protestors.
Similarly guards of PPP, MNA Begum Beelam Hasnain President of PPP opened fire on the violent protests who had besieged her home resultantly 15 persons injured who were hospitalised. Hospital authorities said one person was killed and 23 injured, 14 of them were relieved after medical aid. DSP Akbar Khan said people were protesting against the 20 to 22 hours long duration load shedding. He declined to comment whether Punjab Government or Muslim League was instigating the general public.
On Monday, A 12 years old boy was killed when the guards of Ahmed Yar Haraj Special Assistant to the Prime Minister opened fire at the protestors in Khanewal city while more than a dozen people sustained injuries. In Kamalia protestors burnt three mobile vans and a jeep of DSP Akbar Khan. He saved his life by jumping from the vehicle. He lost his mobile phone also. Another protestor was killed and four other injured in Zafarwal where violent mob of powerless protestors attacked the residence of Tariq Anees MNA, restored to tear gas shelling.
