With reference to a news item published in Business Recorder on Monday, June 18, 2012, under caption "TCP accused of ignoring local cos in Gwadar", it is clarified that the alleged statement attributed to All Gwadar Shipping & Clearing Agents Association (AGS&CAA), is patently incorrect and absurd.
Trading Corporation of Pakistan has played a vital role in the operation of Gwadar Port, and has imported huge quantities of commodities like wheat and urea through this port, in pursuance of the government decision and initiative regarding Aghaz-e-Huqooq-e-Balochistan to facilitate the people of this province. During the last four years, TCP has imported 896,001 MT of wheat and more than 3,400,000 MT of urea, which was handled by local shipping/clearing agents.
It is further clarified that TCP has shown no favouritism to any particular shipping/clearing agents either in its enlistment or allocation of any work. As regards M/s Dynamic Traders, they are also a local shipping agent and registered with Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Quetta. Their enlistment has also been made on merit, after meeting all codal formalities and provision of necessary evidences, required as per prescribed enlistment criteria. In view of the position explained above, the allegation is strongly refuted.-PR
