The Punjab government is preparing a feasibility report on coal-fired power plants for industrial estates of Sundar, Multan and Rahim Yar Khan, Chief Executive Officer of Punjab Industrial Estates (PIE) Maj-Gen (retd) Javed Iqbal said on Sunday.
He was addressing the newly elected board of management of the Industrial Estate, Multan. The session was chaired by Mian Anis A Sheikh, the president of the Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI).
He said that work on coal-fired thermal power station for Multan would start soon after the completion of the power station for the Sundar industrial zone.
He said that the second phase of Multan Industrial Estate would be completed by the end of 2012.
Almost 95 percent development work in 'A' division had been completed and while work on 'B' division was almost 65 percent complete, he said, adding that work on water supply and sewerage schemes was in progress.
The Punjab government, he said, planned to set up 50MW thermal power stations in each of the industrial estate.
He said that 143 out of 394 plots had been sold out and the provincial government had not increased the prices of these plots. Mian Anis A sheikh said that the provincial government had provided same facilities to local investors as were sanctioned for allottees of the Sundar estate.
