The Punjab government on Sunday approved 10 schemes with an estimated cost of Rs8,853.468 million. The approval was given in the 45th meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party which was presided over by Chairman of the Planning and Development Board Javaid Aslam.
The schemes included upgrading the District Headquarters Hospital in Vehari from 125 beds to 300 beds at a cost of Rs512.5 million, dualisation of 32-kilometre-long Lahore-Jaranwala Road between Faizpur Interchange and Mandi Faizabad in Sheikhupura District at a cost of Rs2,007.993 million. Other projects are: 20-km-long widening/improvement of Sheikhupura-Sargodha Road between kilometre No37 and 49.56 and 61.3 and 83.3 also in Sheikhupura at a cost of Rs927.341 million, dualisation of 48-km-long Sheikhupura-Gujranwala road, 4-km-long Section of Pir Bahar Shah Chowk to Motorway (Sheikhupura) at a cost of Rs324.118 million, Construction of 4.5-km-long Sheikhupura Road between GT Road and Khiali By-Pass Chowk ( Gujranwala district) at a cost of Rs229.959 million.
Dualisation of road between Pull Rakh and Bijli Chowk and widening and improvement of road between Bijli Chowk and Darbar Hazrat Baba Farid with a link road to PS City Pakpattan I/C City Road Darbar to Railway Crossing (length=7.35km) in Pakpattan (2nd Revised) would cost Rs233.193 million. Widening/Improvement of Layyah- Garh Maharaja Road (length 69km) in District Layyah/Jhang (Revised) would cost Rs860.621 million.
Dualisation of Dehli Multan Road from 37-Phatak to Thingi from km 584 to 586.9 to 594.2 (length=6.3 km) in District Vehari would cost Rs233.367 million and Widening/Improvement of road from Bahawalpur Bypass to Chungi No9 Multan with a 5.21km length in Multan City would cost of Rs2,109.207.
Members of the P&D Board and representatives of Finance, Environment, Health, Education, Agriculture and Communication and Works Departments also attended the meeting.
