Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah strictly directed all provincial Secretaries to make proper arrangements for the utilisation of development budget so that people could get real benefit of the huge allocation for development portfolio which is Rs 231 billion for next fiscal year 2012-13. He warned the secretaries of strict action in case of any negligence and carelessness.
He issued these directives while chairing a high level meeting of the Secretaries of the provincial departments at CM House on Thursday. Chief Minister Sindh said that being public representative we are accountable to the people and all the civil servants are accountable to the Chief Executive of the province.
He added that present Federal as well as provincial PPP led government has allocated huge amount for the development schemes and there is need of commitment and dedication on the part of civil servants so as to properly implement it for the betterment of the people. Qaim Ali Shah emphasised the secretaries to be punctual in their respective offices so that official work should not suffer and should solve problems of the people.
He emphasised that there is need to implement the directives of Chief Minister in letter and spirit for urgent and prompt redressing of public problems and grievances, misconduct, mismanagement and carelessness will not be tolerated at any cost, he added. Chief Minister stressed upon secretaries to be punctual, active and adhere to the rules and should follow the directives in proper way for better governance.
He said that every department should present its monthly progress report in connection with utilisation of development funds. Qaim Ali Shah said that this is very crucial year as far as development is concerned because during last two years the consecutive rains and floods damaged the infrastructure to a great extent and 16 districts were badly affected. Huge allocation in development portfolio for next financial year will boost the economy of Sindh, generate employment opportunities and improve the infrastructure, he added.
