A petitioner on Friday urged the Lahore High Court to order the authorities concerned to cancel licenses of doctors on strike. The petition, filed by a bar member, Azhar Siddiqui, is in addition to another petition that is already pending before the court.
The petitioner also requested the court to scrutinise the striking doctors' medical degrees, besides taking strict disciplinary and penal actions against them. Highlighting inconvenience to the people at large, he said the continuous strike by doctors had put the lives of seriously ill patients at risk. The petitioner said Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) should also scrutinise the degrees of young doctors and cancel their licenses.
