The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Syndicate has approved Rs 591.9 million developments and non development budget for the financial year 2012-13. The University will be facing a deficit of Rs 66.778 million-primarily non release of fourth quarter grant of Higher Education Commission and increase in salaries by the Federal as well Punjab government.
The University Syndicate was chaired by UVAS Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Talat Naseer Pasha on Saturday at Syndicate room. The University Syndicate also approved appointment on 25 posts including one non teaching post. The Syndicate approved the launching of two degree programmes and two postgraduate diploma programmes. The degree programs are; MBA Banking and Finance and BS (Hon) Food Nutrition & dietetics.
The two diploma programmes are; food safety and control and dairy business launched in collaboration with Lahore University of Management Sciences. UVAS Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Talat Naseer Pasha told the Syndicate members that the University had trained 600 veterinary officers from Livestock Dairy Development Department during last six months.
He said that university had established two girls hostel in Ravi campus Pattoki and acquired 25 acres land from Punjab government for the extension of College of Veterinary Science Jhang. Garrison University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Jamil Anwar, University of Agriculture Faisalabad Professor Dr Laeeq Akbar Lodhi, former Justice Manzoor Hussain Sail, Professor Dr Bashir A Sheikh, Professor Dr Sarwar Khan Dr Muhammad Afzal and other member were participated in the meeting.
